The Reinvestment program is an important benefit granted by the Federal Government, through which companies operating within the jurisdiction of the Superintendence for the Development of the Amazon (SUDAM) and with approved projects may deposit, at Banco da Amazônia S/A (BASA), 30% of the Income Tax due, calculated on operating profit, plus an additional 50% of that amount in own funds, to be reinvested exclusively in new machinery and production equipment.
When should companies make the deposit and what is the deadline?
Companies intending to use the Reinvestment incentive must indicate their choice in the Corporate Income Tax Return (DIPJ), in the specific field provided. The amount must be deposited through the appropriate collection document, within the same deadline established for tax payment.
Considering that tax payment may occur on a monthly, quarterly, or annual basis, companies that pay taxes monthly must also make the Reinvestment deposit during the same period, and the same applies to the other payment frequencies.
Can the deposited amounts be withdrawn in any other situation?
The release of these funds is subject to the approval of the technical and economic project by SUDAM. Once the project is approved and the corresponding deposits are verified, SUDAM will authorize BASA to release the funds.
If the requirements for fund release are not met or the company decides to withdraw from the process, it may formally request authorization to release the deposited amounts from its Banco da Amazônia (BASA) account. In such cases, the company will be required to repay the corresponding tax amount that was initially deferred.
